Recreational Vehicle Insurance in Lubbock, TX
Owning a recreational vehicle (RV) can entail financial exposure that many owners underestimate until something goes wrong. A single accident, theft or liability claim can result in costs that may exceed what most people budget for out of pocket. Without the right RV insurance coverage, those expenses may fall entirely on you.
What Does a Policy Cover?
An RV insurance policy can be customized to suit vehicle specifications, budget and risk tolerance. In many cases, a standard policy may offer coverage for the following:
- Damage caused by collisions, regardless of fault
- Damage caused by fires, natural disasters, theft or vandalism
- Bodily injuries or property damage you cause to others
- Medical expenses for you and your passengers after an accident, regardless of fault
- Personal belongings you store and transport in your RV
Coverage options and limits vary by carrier and policy type, so working through the details with our agents can help you decide on the coverage that works best for you.
Is It Required in Texas?
Motorized RVs in Texas are required to carry minimum amounts of liability coverage for third-party injuries and property damage. Towable RVs such as travel trailers may not be required to carry their own separate insurance policy as long as the towing vehicle is adequately insured. Still, RV coverage is strongly recommended since your tow vehicle’s policy typically will not cover damage to the trailer itself. If you finance your RV, your lender may also ask for proof of a policy. Additionally, RV parks and campgrounds may mandate coverage.
